Peek & Cloppenburg Dusseldorf: Designer for Tomorrow Award
Thursday, Nov 25, 2010, 12:19 PM / Germany
Established in January 2009 and initiated by department store Peek & Cloppenburg Dusseldorf, the annual Designer for Tomorrow Award will take place for the third time this summer. Eight finalists, including Thomas Behrens, Cora Isabel David, Parsival Cserer, Katja Filipovich, Magdalena Kohler, Irene Luft, Magdalena Stark and Anna Zwick will present their collections in a catwalk show on July 9 at Bebelplatz, Berlin. Chosen by a professional jury out of over 150 applicants, the winner will be honored not only with prize money, promotion and business mentorship from Peek & Cloppenburg but also a sponsored slot at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in January 2011.
Focused on and dedicated to giving up-and-coming design talent long-term support and providing them with a platform for ideas and designs, P & C’s selection criteria includes daring creativity and sustainable processes and materials. The award is open to any designer who has graduated within the past 24 months and has not as yet been able to distribute, market or advertise their own collection.
Berlin-based Sam Frenzel won the 2009 award with his grandiose “Nuit Blanche” collection. Thanks to the Designer for Tomorrow Award, Frenzel presented his A/W10 ‘Collection Bravade’ at Berlin Fashion Week this January to much critical acclaim. The 2010 edition of the award will be live streamed directly from Babelplatz for the first time ever! Don’t miss it: 9th of July 2010 at 16.30.
