VANCOUVER, B.C. − Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) will be adding James Steward and Lisa Jayne Dann from the United Kingdom to the list of participating fashion designers at this year’s show, which takes place November 2 – 7, 2010.

Based in Leeds, U.K., James Steward has designed dresses for Kylie Minogue and Victoria Beckham, and his clothing can be found in high-end boutiques around the U.K. His designs are both timeless and feminine, and each garment is born from a long research process that is heavily influenced by fashion history and creative pattern cutting. James is also a two-time winner of Yorkshire Brides Couture Designer of the Year.

“I’m incredibly excited about showing my new collection at Vancouver Fashion Week,” says Steward. “Vancouver looks like a beautiful and vibrant city; I’ve always wanted to visit, so I feel privileged to be able to show there as well as having the opportunity to see some of the sights! The fashion looks to be very cutting-edge and hopefully the people of Vancouver will like the highly sculptured aspects of my designs.”

Also from Leeds, U.K. and taking inspiration from past and present catwalk collections, Lisa Jayne Dann was recently recognized as the ‘Best Independent Designer’ at the Leeds Retail Therapy Awards. Known as the ‘Queen of Leeds Independent Fashion’, she was also the biggest-selling independent brand on online fashion retailer, in the three months prior to Christmas 2009.

“We feel truly blessed and excited to have the Leeds design community at Vancouver Fashion Week for our tenth anniversary,” says Jamal Abdourahman, Director of VFW. “This is set to be our biggest show yet and the first time we have had British designers showcasing their collections. Vancouver Fashion Week is a truly global event and we expect that both James and Lisa will benefit greatly from taking part. We really look forward to seeing their collections on the catwalk.”

VFW is recognized as a global platform for both established and emerging designers. Since its debut in 2000, it has gained a respectable reputation for bringing international consumers, buyers, media and industry professionals together for a week of culturally diverse fashion.
