The Brandery: Getting Stronger Every Season

Donnerstag, Nov. 25, 2010, 13:05 / Spain

Barcelona, July 2010

Now in its 3rd edition, The Brandery, an urban and street wear show, solidified its role as the place to meet in Spain for companies, public relations and sales agents, and buyers with their sights on southern Europe.

The show boasted 215 exhibiting brands and over 15,200 visitors, a growth of 57% since last year.

Buyers and retailers from El Corte Inglés, La Rinascente and Galeries Lafayette were in attendance–most visitors traveled from with France, Italy and Portugal.

Pere Camprubí, director of Fira de Barcelona’s Expansion Department
and of The Brandery, told TribaSpace, “I am very happy about the outcome. The show is clearly strengthening its position on the international market. We have had growing number of participating brands, the quality of visitors has been significant, and we have had a special workshops program accompanying the trade show”.

The Brandery hosted several conferences and round tables which emphasized “creative revolution” solutions for business in sales, marketing and trends. One of the most popular events was the international bloggers meeting, at which speakers shared their professional experiences with over 200 people.

A highlight of the innovation space was the “virtual changing room”, a new IT application which allows the user to combine different garments with the aid of a virtual personal shopper to guide in the purchase.

Virginia Chicharro, press representative for OGOZA (southern European distributor for Ben Sherman, Kenzo and Barbour), took TribaSpace through GANT’s housing wares collection.

The trade show also highlighted cultural activities. Misi Misi Expo was a display of 30 customized maneki-nekos (lucky cats), while the So Real exhibition exhibited various examples of urban art.

Another visual highlight was an exhibition of portraits of burlesque artist Dita von Teese, organized by the publication Yo Dona.

And of course, there was the Custo Barcelona show, a tribute to Dalmau Custo, a highly celebrated designer in the Catalan capital and beyond. Custo Barcelona also showed in Berlin this past week, as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

The Brandery A/W 2012 is scheduled for January 26-28, 2011.
