Welcome: Stockholm's latest menswear store
Freitag, Nov. 19, 2010, 15:29 / Stockholm, Sweden
What happens when some of Sweden’s finest menswear retailers and designers decide to work together? The result is WELCOME, an exciting, collaborative retail space on Sibyllegatan in Stockholm that opened in October.
The collaboration between retailer Hannes Hogeman, of Très Bien Shop, and Cristopher Nying and Jockum Hallin of label Our Legacy 1980-81, is an inventive expansion for both companies. It also builds on their extensive history — Our Legacy is Très Bien Shop’s largest supplier, while Très Bien Shop is, of course, Our Legacy’s best customer. “We have a very close relationship with Trés Bien Shop, since we both began our businesses around the same time – five years ago now,” says Oliver Saunders, Managing Director of Our Legacy. ”It was very natural to work together on a new store concept, combining the best brands available on their site alongside Our Legacy.”
WELCOME marks a debut in the Swedish capital for Trés Bien Shop, which, with its office, has been based exclusively in Malmö. Spanning two levels, WELCOME’s inventive layout was conceived by architect firm Arrhov Frick, who developed the design in consultation with the WELCOME crew. On working with Arrhov Frick, Saunders says: “It was also a very natural partnership; we shared a clear vision of the store concept. The use of different materials from marble to norden wood gives WELCOME a perfect feel; it’s also a very practical and contemporary take on retail.”
The shop stocks a number of Our Legacy one-offs, as well as a selection of the brand’s best finds from the warehouse. Très Bien Shop manage the stocked brands and buying independently, capitalising on their rising renown as one of Sweden’s leading menswear retailers. Labels such as A.P.C, Nigel Cabourn, Trickers, Porter, Church’s, Levis Vintage, Mark McNairy, and Nike have been confirmed by Saunders as part of the Autumn line up, while next season sees the exciting addition of Beams Plus, in addition to Comme des Garçons, Dries van Noten, RRL and Maison Martin Margiela.
There’s also a collaboration in the works with Danish knitwear company S.N.S Herning, who will produce an exclusive collection of cardigans, sweaters, scarves and hats for the store... just in case you needed yet another reason to visit.
