WOK Store: High Fashion, Art and Creativity in Milan
Freitag, Nov. 19, 2010, 13:09 / Milan, Italy
WOK Store has quickly established itself as a hub not only for high fashion, but also art and creativity– a space where creators from all fields of the visual can come together to explore (and sell) new forms of expression and ideas. Founded in 2007 by Federica Zambon and Simona Citarella, the business partners had the vision of merging traditional Italian culture with the avant-garde influences of New York, Tokyo and London.
The concept-store does indeed take its name from the Chinese frying pan. Similarly, WOK the store is a stir-up of fine design elements– from unique decorative pieces and coffee table books to cult toys and edgy fashion. Hanging on the racks you’ll find Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania nestled together with Konkon to Zai and Comme de Garçons, all of which get friendly with the likes of Jean de Castelbajac, Henrik Vibskov and Andrea Crews.
Federica and Simona periodically open WOK’s doors to host events such as last month’s “My Bauhaus is Better Than Yours”– an exposition of cool new objects and furniture. At the event one could find such innovative pieces as the AD ACTA sideboard, Vom Ribbeck, a series of porcelain pear-shaped lamps–or this electric combination piano-coffee table that also has storage space for your drum machine inside.
