"A SHADED VIEW ON FASHION FILM" (ASVOFF) AT RUSSIAN FASHION WEEK

On April 3, 2010 Russian Fashion Week and Diane Pernet present "A Shaded View On Fashion Film" (ASVOFF) Second Edition. This Film Festival is going to be one of the striking events of the RFW’s 20th season/ 10 years in Moscow’s Congress-Hall of World Trade Center. RFW FW2010/11 schedule includes over 50 shows and presentation of cutting-edge designers from not only Russia, but also UK, Italy, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and more.

"A Shaded View on Fashion Film" (ASVOFF) shakes up the old rules of fashion by putting the focus on the moving image, in an industry long dominated by the "still" photographic medium.

ASVOFF is a festival including a film selection & competition, documentaries, features and installations.
The common thread that binds this diverse program is the use of fashion, beauty and/or style as the principal subject, theme or cinematic aesthetic.
The festival is a study in the drama, power and personification that fashion evokes and commands on screen.

Jury members for the second edition included designer Rick Owens, photographer Nan Goldin and actress Maria de Medeiros, and the curated program features works with/by/for Erwin Olaf, Steven Klein, Chris Cunningham, Johan Renck, Undercover/Jun Takahashi, Joann Preiss, Michael Pitt... as well as works by newly discovered talent such as Benjamin Serroussi, Elisha Smith-Leverock, Griffin, Mattias Montero and Camille Vivier.

Since the premiere of its first edition in September 2008 at the Jeu de Paume National Gallery in Paris, the program of short films has travelled to museums and institutions such as the Guggenheim Bilbao, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Tokyo, Seoul, Riga, Mexico City, Vienna, Copenhagen and Amsterdam.

ASVOFF is now proud to arrive in Moscow for Russian Fashion Week to encourage Russian designers, film-makers, and fashion enthusiasts in general to submit films for the 3rd edition of ASVOFF, which will launch in Fall 2010. ASVOFF is looking for fashion/style/beauty films under 5 minutes to be submitted by June 30th 2010. More info can be obtained on ASVOFF website, www.asvoff.com.

ASVOFF will run in the RFW Fashion Cinema at Congress-Hall of World Trade Center
(Entrance 4, 12 Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment) on April 2 from 1.30 P.M.

Diane Pernet, founder & director

She launched AShadedViewOnFashion.com, the internationally acclaimed blog in 2005. She regularly curates and consults numerous fashion and photography festivals,. In 2006, she co-founded the traveling film festival “You Wear It Well” before launching “A Shaded View On Fashion Film” on her own in 2008.
